My child is home now from the WH school system. Not a snowflake in sight nor expected for the next 2 hrs. Yeah, makes a lot of sense...

I think an early dismissal makes sense given the uncertainty of the forecast. Closing altogether made little sense because they knew the snow wasn't going to start until noon in western CT, and 2-3 PM in eastern CT. It seems like the interior districts in the western third of the state (Danbury, western New Haven, Waterbury areas) were the only ones to close.

I agree with Cambium - if your kid got stuck on a bus coming home this afternoon, you wouldn't be too happy. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

But thats what happens when you have 7 Billion people and all different Opinions. In the end someone just wont be happy. Its actually sad if you think about it.

Early dismissal almost doesnt make sense. Maybe the parent is in a meeting and cant leave. Maybe conditions deteriorate so quickly that you have to wait hours to drive in it. I think closings are fine. They make it up in the end anyway, right?

But yes, the people complaining they left early are the same ones who would complain if it snowed half foot in the middle of day and they got stuck on a bus somewhere.

:STORM UPDATE:

Just as my schedule went after lunch we would get heavy bands coming through... And so here we are... Conditions deteriorating. Expect a couple hours of 3 inch accumulations. and then 1 inch next several hours.

A Low is developing south of us. Expect snow showers tomorrow too.

Speaking of school buses, my dh saw an overturned mini-school bus somewhere along the parkway. He said the roads are really bad in the Stamford area, they've already got around 4" of snow.

I'm sitting high atop a building in downtown Stamford and can see down at least 5 blocks before trees & turns in the roads block my view. It appears that it has warmed up a bit in the past few hours because at noon there was some accumulation on the roads but now it looks like there's no snow/ice/slush. It is still snowing out, though, so maybe it's mixed precipitation. Cars are only driving a little bit slower than usual (maybe 20 mph.) Co-workers are planning to leave in 15 minutes in anticipation of buildup starting around 3 PM--1.5 hours early.

So far Tuesday-Wednesday storm should be like todays but maybe slightly heavier. Have to watch the track... A more west track and we get a blizzard. Current track has half foot. East track we see flurries. lol
