::UPDATE: BLIZZARD JANUARY 12, 2011::
NO SCHOOL FOR KIDS WEDNESDAY ACCORDING TO THIS..MAYBE EARLY DISMISSAL TUESDAY

NAM model Precip map through Thursday...Looks like deep reds to me. Thats over an inch of liquid guys!

And looks like narrow swath of 1.50 liquid in Bridgeport, Stratford, Milford, Trumbull, Shelton, Monrow, Oxford, Ansonia, Derby, Seymour..At 14:1 ratios thats 2 feet. 10-15 elsewhere in the state.

I'm going by what I see today. Thats how I always do it. Not averages, not feelings...This particular model is showing what I wrote above.

Based on a map I saw on Northeast Quadrant earlier, looks like 10+ inches for nearly all Connecticut and localized 15+

EDIT: Another map there shows 20+ in much of Connecticut Danbury to Waterbury and northward. This seems a little wishcasting for the NYC area though.

The previous storm hit right after Christmas – I was home and didn’t attempt to drive until the roads and my driveway were plowed. In this storm, I saw that Stratford (where I work) wasn't so bad and didn't think the roads would be a problem. Big mistake. On my commute home:

Stratford to Trumbull: 10 min (normal)
Trumbull to my driveway: 1 hour (10 min normal) Including getting stuck twice and multiple detours.
Two feet from my garage to actually in my garage: 20 minutes of digging.

As I was digging a path to my garage, tired, irritable, and covered in snow, I admit that I was saying rather nasty things about Connecticut. Something like, "Why the f*** did I leave Texas for this sh**?!?" I'm better now.

Yes, even Rt. 25 was bad during the latest storm. The heavy snow really began just before/during rush hour. I think it caught a lot of towns by surprise.

Cambium, if we even get half that amount I am going to be really ticked off.

1. How'd I know you go for the seemingly wishcast map.
2. Had you heard of NEQ before just now? I only found out about it a couple months ago, met the guys behind it at the last Tri-State Wx Conference.

LOL - I think everyone was mother effing Connecticut on Friday. Took me hours to get to Branford from Oxford - normally a 40 minute trip took four hours. A former coworker of mine said it took him over 5 hours to get from Stamford to Shelton via 95 north. Five hours. I have never seen the roads so gridlocked in my life.

1. I can never tell where the heck I am on a map. What's it going to be in Central CT, specifically West Hartford, more specifically my cul-de-sac where I walk my dog?

2. And what about the following week when I see that dreaded "wintry mix" and "icy conditions" on the forecast? Please tell me that that's a lie. Thank you.

And that was just thousands of people trying to get back home.... Now imagine a CAT 4 hurricane hitting here and "MILLIONS" are ordered to evacuate.

The corridor has become so over populated that with overpopulation in a specific area comes disaster and loss of life in a natural disaster...

The roads around here are pathetic to support the continuing population.

Anyone following the floods in Autralia? Sick.
