Connecticut has been through this before. These extremes will be more common. Some lasting longer than others.
Where's the data that global temps are below normal?
Global temps are warming as well. You can't hide that reality. Climate normals have gone up every decade. It's not just CT. It's almost the entire U.S. in this current heat wave The result of global temps going up means you higher than normal local temps in local locations and records being smashed as you have in the midwest. More high temp records are being broken than low temp records at climate stations if you look over the past few decades. The arctic sea ice gets less and less almost every year. Just look at sattelite photo's. The warming near the poles is staggering. Less ice in the arctic means less cold air in the arctic that can invade south. Ice reflects heat, water absorbs and moderates. That's the reality. The trend is WARMER.

Oh wait now. I NO DOUBT think the trend is warmer. its undenyable. My only point is that using this SPECIFIC winter as a gauge is silly because many places had record cold. The overall trend has definitely been warmer over the last 10 years but looking at our winter and going uh-oh this is a sign of anything is crazy. Its just a warm spell of record proportions! Hell, last year when there was about 60 inches of snow in a 3 week period wasn't that fluke? Of course it was..it was practically unprecidented.

But overall, things are tilted toward warmer ...I can't argue that.

Smart. Finally someone who puts a timeframe when debating the topic. I love those that say "yes its warming" but forget to use amount of time. Past 3 days? Sure. lol Past 1000 years, of course.

I am Hoping for no more heatwaves for a long time after Thursday of this week. If the tradeoff was no temps above 90F for the rest of the year in NH I will take it. Bring on a cool summer.

Does this mean anything? NCDC data shows that the contiguous USA has not warmed in the past decade, summers are cooler, winters are getting colder | Watts Up With That?

By the way there's more to this world than the tri state area and I believe much of the globe this past winter has been rather cold. How about the last 2 winters prior to this one?
