NWS is actually giving a 30% chance of a rain/snow mix but Weather Channel is saying sunny and hi 40s

For GraniteStater
Here's the latest NAM sounding for Concord, NH. Left is Thursday 7pm. Right is Friday 1am. Models did trend slightly colder for you.

Its below freezing above 2000 feet at 7pm. And below freezing above 1500' at 1am. The question is, will there be enough time to melt to surface between 1000' and ground? So a safe bet here is to say a mix. 2nd guess would be sleet. 3rd guess would say all snow based on intensity of fall.

Its also safe to say it will be snowing for anyone above 2000'.

SUNDAY STORM UPDATE:

Ok, in a nut shell, here's what has to happen..

The northern Stream has to phase(merge) with the southern Stream at the right time, in the right spot. On this current Satellite pic the Northern Stream is still in the NorthWest so models wont pick up on where it goes until Friday when its closer to us.
NWS Sterling says it best below the pic.

ALL EYES IN THE EXTENDED REMAIN ON THE CLOSED SRN STREAM LOW OVER NRN BAJA CALIFORNIA ON THURSDAY THAT WILL OPEN AND EJECT EAST TO THE GULF COAST...THEN DEPENDING ON INFLUENCES FROM THE NRN STREAM WILL CONTINUE TRACKING EAST OR TURN NORTHEAST AND HEAD UP THE ERN SEABOARD.

00Z EURO HAS A MESSY NORTHERN STREAM TROUGH ACROSS THE GREAT LAKES TO NEW ENGLAND WITH MULTIPLE VORT MAXES AND LITTLE PHASING.

00Z GFS BRINGS A MORE DEFINED TROUGH IN FROM THE GREAT LAKES WITH PHASING OCCURRING OVER THE NRN MID ATLANTIC.

DETAILS ARE OBVIOUSLY STILL TOO FAR AWAY FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW FOR LWX(Baltimore/D.C)...PHASING WOULD HAVE TO BEGIN TO OUR WEST ALLOWING TRANSLATION OF ENERGY TO THE COASTAL SYSTEM AS IT MOVES UP FROM THE CAROLINAS. INGREDIENTS FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL ARE THERE...IT IS SIMPLY A WAITING GAME FOR THE MODELS TO DELIVER CONSISTENCY AND THUS CONFIDENCE. TIMING FOR ANY POTENTIAL SYSTEM REMAINS SATURDAY NIGHT INTO SUNDAY. CONTINUED LOW CHANCE POPS FROM BALT-WASH AND SOUTH WITH A RAIN/SNOW MIX THROUGH THIS TIME.

Nice sounding graphic. I will keep you updated on what type of precip we get from the event into Friday. It likely won't be very impressive.

GFS runs 4 times a day. ITS BACK.

It again showed a HUGE storm along the coast. This time slightly closer to the coast but dynamic cooling would be snow for most.

It's concerning me on a few levels. 1. We're only 4 days away and there's still no consistancy. 2. Its showing a storm of this size again.

Do you guys remember in 2010 there was a sharp cutoff? Baltimore got feet of snow in a storm and NY/CT nothing. Maybe thats what might happen?

Anyway -- here's the latest bomb again.

Data for Danbury, CT. Notice the liquid amounts. Thats 1.60" liquid at 12:1 ratios = 16-20" of snow.

And Once Again on the latest GFS update

Over a foot of snow to Hartford with Blizzard conditions Sunday. Storm is not only stronger on this update but lasts 24hrs.

This is now 3 of the last 4 runs. How can we ignore that??

IF....IF the Euro and Canadien tonight show similar setup, get ready for a major snowstorm event Sunday.
