Since early this year I have been planning a one-week trip to Delaware (to look at retirement homes!) and decided on this week for many reasons: wanted to be here for St. Patrick's Day, for the parade in New Haven last week, wanted to be back before Easter, wanted to be back in time for the daffodils to be in bloom and a few other reasons. I leave Wed. and guess what - daffodils in bloom all over the place, flowering trees coming out, and today I saw butterflies in several spots. Was at the beach yesterday and it was crowded and most people were in shorts and t-shirts. I didn't even have any light clothes out and had to get some to re-pack for this trip, as I didn't expect this.

However, I am enjoying it and I hope everyone else is too.

Thumbs up free Italian ice at Rita's tomorrow, March 20

Figured I would put this in the weather thread, since it sort of fits. Every year on first day of Spring, Rita's gives away free Italian ice. Most years it is just too cold to eat things like that, but not this year. So if you have a Rita's nearby and the time to go, why not?

The models have been performing very poorly at forecasting high temperatures in the interior areas. Highs have been well above what was indicated without the westerly or southwesterly downslope wind component. Another big factor is the EXTREMELY DRY soils by March standards. Normally the soils would be very chilled with remanant snowcover or wet this time of year. This is not the case at all.

Beg to differ. Euro had it dead on being the warmest of all models in the 70s. GFS had 60s. Not sure what NAM had.

Here's post from 16th.

Here's the warmest days from the last GFS. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Euro is warmer than the GFS but GFS has 60s widespread. If we dont get an inch liquid by then, expect some spots to hit 75 in CT.
Purple shade is 75-80.
And here's my post from the 13th (6 days ago) showing Euro temps

Hour 222. Thats 9 days in advance! Why cant the Euro be right about that snowstorm. Gees. lol
