Board of Adjustments has approved two special use permits for Wawa to build on E 10th near the cemetery and Memorial on what used to be the Sears parking lot.
Awesome! I know someone posted on here a few months ago about an 7Eleven also coming in front of Academy Sports. Have anyone heard anything else about one?
Someone must have leased the old Mattress Firm at the east corner of Greenville Blvd and Evans. The front facade has been removed and the interior gutted.
I was just going off off black rifle coffee’s website. It’s been on there since last January so I guess maybe the plans fell through and they didn’t update their website.

I wouldn't look for those road improvements to happen until at least 2030 at the earliest. It's a big, expensive project, and NC doesn't seem to have the money for that now. I knew that it would be a while for most of the road improvement projects to get started after the state decided to pave most of the intended roads. Paving is usually good for 10 years.
It's my understanding that the East Firetower/Portertown project from Charles to East 10th is the only project that has been funded.
Judging from the number of homes along Portertown going up for sale recently I would think you're correct Richard and perhaps they've received some information on that project....

There was an approved extension of that project down Firetower in terms of design because they realized the intersection had to be part of the project. It is the first part of this video.

The project was re-designed to reduce the amount of properties acquired.
According to the latest NC STIP schedule (Nov 22), nothing is going to happen on the Firetower/Portertown project before 2026. Redbanks Rd is the only project that will happen soon. Evans/Old Tar should start in 2025. The NC43 widening project has been removed. https://connect.ncdot.gov/projects/p...ent%20STIP.pdf

I need to read better.
The NC 43 widening project is still partially funded and is slated to begin in 2027 with Right of Way acquisitions and utility work. Construction is slated to begin in 2029.
