Closing without knowing where they are going is not a good sign for re-opening.
Neither are their Google reviews for their last few weeks in business. I guess anybody who's been there this year isn't surprised by them shutting down. They clearly lost their way. Reminds me of the demise of The Daily Grind on Firetower a few years back...

Exactly. Kinda how East Coast Wings $ Grill was supposed to be "looking" for a new place in Greenville when they left.

Another great example of what Greenville is missing out on

The Brittany Soccer Showcase to bring 75 teams to compete in Wilson

Quote:
There are approximately 75 teams set to play at Burt Gillette Athletic Complex in Wilson for the event. Just over 2,000 high school players and coaches come to the event each year.

2000 players plus coaches plus parents equals a whole lot of hotel rooms and meals and miscellaneous items that will be purchased this weekend in Wilson. Greenville needs to get it together!

The tournament exists for a specific person and reason. Not everything is just Greenville losing out on something.

"Greenville restaurateur Daniel Wu has announced that ground has been broken on Fire Tower Road for his three new restaurants: K Pot 88 Korean Grill and Hot Pot; Wing It Wings and Boba; and Tokyo Express Hibachi Chicken Steak and Shrimp.
All three restaurant will be located in the same parcel across the street from the Papa Johns at 675 W. Fire Tower Road, Winterville. Each will be its own restaurant with dining room -- but under one roof, Wu said.
K Pot 88 Korean Grill & Hot Pot will be an all-you-can-eat restaurant specializing in Korean Barbecue and Hot Pot, Wu said in an earlier interview for a post on 252Buzz. Grills and mini hot pots will allow customers to prepare the selections they want at their tables.
Wings and boba have become a popular combination for restaurants across the nation -- and Wing It will offer wings in a variety of sauces along with boba and other teas. Wu also is in the process of converting the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill at 3221 E 10th St., which he owns, to a Wing It Wings and Boba; Wu said he hopes that location will be open in about four weeks.
Wu also operates a Tokyo Express restaurant at 700 S. Memorial Dr. in the medical district in Greenville. This new location on Fire Tower Road also will serve chicken, steak and shrimp prepared on a hibachi.
Wu also owns Greenville's Wasabi 88 Asian restaurant at 1605 W. Fire Tower Road; and Q Sushi all-you-can-eat restaurant at 3750 S Memorial Dr."

Big news for Winterville (PCC area) and as an aside, for the old Dairy Queen on E 10th 10 in Greenville.

I fully understand the reason for the tournament. That wasn't really the point of my comment.

Greenville hosts a soccer tournament every January. There were approx 111 teams that attended this year over that weekend at 3 different soccer facilities in Greenville. It's called the Beast of the East and it's sponsored by Bojangles.

While that sounds good, the Beast of the East is a fairly low level tournament played in the dead of winter (so has had an issue of cancellation some years). For contrast, in Wilmington they have a mid May tournament spread around all over town that consists of over 300 teams. And that is more of a rec tournament. And that is without a great facility (of which the City Council just authorized a $16 million contract to rectify).

With ECU Rec fields available and better dates Greenville could be hosting a 300 team tournament twice a year with additional facilities. That's just in soccer. As well as sponsor State Cup games (higher level). The Brittany in Wilson is a High School tournament. You have to have High School level fields to hold that...of which Bradford Creek doesn't really have.

There will probably not be any high level games of any sort in soccer and LaX in Greenville anytime soon and it doesn't have anything to do with a lack of facilities. Despite Greenville's size, it still thinks like a small conservative town. Greenville has had a hard time doing anything ever since Mayor Thomas left. They can't even come to a decision on parking meters, let alone anything bigger. Whatever happened to all of those high dollar hotels and residences that were supposed to be built downtown? All of that money left town with Mayor Thomas.
