Oakland was 120 total last year for a 27/100k rate, highest in California.

San Francisco had 55 total last year, up from a pre-COVID total of 41.

Wrong. San Bernardino was the highest in CA last year at 33/100k and has been consecutively the highest since 2020.

Yet the media continues to focus on Chicago, with a lower rate, because Chicago is in a blue state, and New Orleans is in a red state. It's a shame how the media has weaponized violence for political/ideological purposes.

New Orleans has a Dem mayor and is in a state with a Dem Governor. I think the Chicago focus is due to its size.

Baltimore 52
DC 45

DC up 13% y/y, but also reporting big increases in motor vehicle theft and rape. Almost as many cars have been stolen as have been broken into.

Baltimore Sun is not updating right now, I took this data from Cham's page.

DC was up almost 50% a few weeks ago. Glad to see the numbers dropping. Last year, DC finished well below the year prior. Hopefully, this year ends below last year too.
