There's been 77 homicides between SE/ NE DC and inner beltway PG. At around 550-600k is almost equal to Baltimore at 77 540k

*74 / 570k. 2 homicides happened in Dundalk, and another one in Catonsville.

Eastern DC/PG has always been as wild as Baltimore historically. Nothing new.

Portland 22, it had 20 for the entire year in 2016

36 homicides as of April 10 in Birmingham, AL (city population 197,521 estimate 2021).
5 of the 36 were from reckless driving.

That's a bit misleading, since Seattle hit 69 when it had literally half its current population, so the rate was much higher, even compared to the current pace.

Not demographically though. SE/NE DC and inner PG is almost completely Black unlike Baltimore City. That area of the DC region has way more historical oppression impacting families than Baltimore City which is now only 59% Black. It may be seeing a huge influx of Black driven gentrification as Black middle class families move into that area of DC, but the remnants of slavery, Jim Crow, redlining, and drugs which together created these issues can still be seen and felt in those areas.
