Austin’s news is reporting 21 homicides as of today. Which still seems pretty high.

Fort Worth is now at 23. Includes one incident that could very well be accidental, includes three incidents in which only source is Tarrant County Medical Examiner (good chance each of those three incidents happened a long time ago before 2023 started), also includes one officer-involved incident where and officer shot and killed (most likely justifiable) someone. So basically you can also make an argument Fort Worth is just at 17.

Kansas City is seeing quite the uptick in homicides. Currently at 45 YTD which is the highest on record, even higher than when the all time homicide record was set in 2020.

Fresno at 6 with potential 7th in the hospital

At least two homicides in fresno were 2nd degree(basically manslaughter charges that the feisty DA pushed up to homicide)cases. 1 homicide came from a jail fight(these shouldnt even count, imo). Not much in the way of crazy street violence this year.

So all homicides are down from historic norms in fresno. However, rural fresno county has seen a marked increase over historic norms. Maybe 25% above average.

Montreal at 7 after an incident in March was deemed a homicide. So 5 murders in total for all of March. Our rate is now 0.34/100,000

Baltimore at 69

While the numbers are improving, the problems with crime are not.
