Again, I stand by the statement that more talent has come out of the Philadelphia School for the Creative and Performing Arts than the entire DC Metro area.

If I had to write down a list of all the musicians from Philadelphia, it would prbably equal Wilt Chamberlain's lay list. Luckily, Wikipedia has a link. There are so many musicians that you have to click a link to get to the "N through Z" part of the list.

Enjoy!

What would you know about our scene? You don't identify with DC at all. We don't party with Bammas from Philly or New York so why would we care what you all like or do in your cities? GoGo runs DC. Period! You can stay in Philly and NYC listening to the DJ play their iPod hooked up to the speakers and we will stay in DC listening to our live music that has more constant energy than any club anywhere will ever produce. No city other than DC can keep musicians employed with shows every night and 1,000+ in attendance at multiple venues across the city. You go to the club to listen to the DJ play the same CD you have in your car. That is the definition of whack!

Who is talking about singers? What are you all talking about? I'm talking about the people. It's the reason we have more black people than the Philly MSA with a smaller population.

Do you mean the Go-Go scene where all of the bands just play songs written and composed by real musicians? The Go-Go scene is all but dead in DC anyway. After Chuck dies, all that will be left is, "Wop, wop, wop, Gucci, Gucci, Mane, Mane, Marco Polo, Marco Polo, Marco Polo!" "Bounce Beat," or whatever the kids call that garbage, is terrible. I'd rather listen to a Drake album.

And why would we need to go to clubs when we have quality, homegrown musicians like Jill Scott, Kindred, and Vivian Green?

We should have been talking about downtowns and only downtowns from the start...not new construction in areas outside of DT's, not which city is cleaner, not MSA's etc....but because DC's DT lacks and doesn't stand against the other two...you guys bring up other things because your DT isn't worth taking about.

This is definitely the funniest statement of the week. You exaggerate everything about DC.

No, there are not multiple shows across the city (or the Metro) with "1,000+ in attendance." You must think you're the only person who's ever lived in DC and that those of us who have can't call complete BS on that! There are only a handful of venues in DC where you can even hear Go-Go nowadays. And those spots would be lucky to get 50 people on any given night. Outside of that, you have a few high school Go-Gos, but those are only once every blue moon. And I really hope you're not trying to sneak into parties at Flowers, Friendly, or Gwynn Park.

If you're a "Go-Go head," you can find everything you need here. And from the looks of it, there are no shows until Saturday.

Oh here we go again... so now Philly doesn't have live music venues? You guys are a joke. I prove you wrong with EVERY ARGUMENT YOU TRY TO MAKE so you change the subject. Don't make me prove you wrong again with this one. Philadelphia has hundreds of live music venues not to mention constant concert venues in both Philly and Camden. This is honestly turning into a joke.

Well, since your old considering you just talked about Chuck Brown, who cares what you like? There is a nursing home waiting for you in the future. We will continue to party in DC with packed out shows and lines down the block. Jill Scott doesn't play at 4 venues a week in Philly every week. There is nothing like the GoGo scene in DC in the city of Philadelphia.
