Um, what does that have to do with this? Sorry for being kind of flip on that, but I must be losing it. If it's about being unique, all cities are. I can make a case that NYC is the most un-American US city just as easily as you can say nowhere else is like DC. For all the height restrictions, government presence, and general transience that characterises DC, I can also ask how many other cities in the US have strings of census tracts with over 80,000 people per square mile, three skylines, a 24/7 rapid transit system that transports over a million people a day (nowhere else in the US does), and has such world influence.

You ask that now after pages and pages of DC & Maryland posters (including youreself) talking about areas and topics that have nothing to do with Downtowns? Yeah ok Baltimore.

This thread should have really been about 4 or 5gs long to begin with between Boston and Philly...DC was never really a contender with Philly and Boston in the mix clearly as the poll numbers are reflective of that.

It's not even like DC has some horrible DT, it's just Philly and Boston's are superior. This thread turned into a meltdown from Maryland/DC posters losing it and not accepting that DC's downtown isn't its strongest area.

**** DC People Say - YouTube
I honestly would think that was someone from North Carolina or Maryland, it may be distinctive to people who live in that area but most people would probably think this person is from somewhere in the south. DC doesn't have a distinctive accent or character trait or whatever you claim...again maybe locally but someone from north dakota would never be able to say "Oh he/she must be from DC"

No, because the city overall doesn't have a lifestyle I like, outside of Center City and the immediate vicinity it feels very limited, and the infrastructure (particularly public transportation) is just pathetic, but if I were to choose one of the three for a weekend and solely spend time downtown, it would be Philadelphia. I'd say DC shouldn't be judged on that metric due to some pretty odd circumstances, but the three are completely incomparable.
I can certainly understand the qualms with Philly's public transportation from a NYC and DC perspective, as well as the relatively limited area (as a proportion of the city overall) of vibrant, livable neighborhoods, but I'm a little confused about your comment on "lifestyle."

Obviously there are specific factors in a city that contribute to lifestyle, but if you're living in a nice neighborhood in Philly with a good job, you definitely wouldn't find a dramatic difference in lifestyle between in NY, Boston or DC. Care to elaborate?

Let's not get into this one again because I'm pretty sure I already proved to you that Philly kicks the living hell out of DC in night life.
We have discussed this over and over for about a year now. Ask your Philly man Bajan about it. He knows. As for night life, Philly doesn't even come close to DC. Get real son.

No, there are not multiple shows across the city (or the Metro) with "1,000+ in attendance." You must think you're the only person who's ever lived in DC and that those of us who have can't call complete BS on that! There are only a handful of venues in DC where you can even hear Go-Go nowadays. And those spots would be lucky to get 50 people on any given night. Outside of that, you have a few high school Go-Gos, but those are only once every blue moon. And I really hope you're not trying to sneak into parties at Flowers, Friendly, or Gwynn Park.

If you're a "Go-Go head," you can find everything you need here. And from the looks of it, there are no shows until Saturday.

Wasnt Finest the name of the generic brand at Giant food markets

I do think DC would have a better gogo scene though; but have never even heard of it until these threads; even when I lived in DC. Maybe Bajan is right and that it is more of PG county thing. Though I did work in PG in greenbelt off Kenilworth in the same building as a DC R&B rap radio station; still didnt hear of gogo then
