IMO, I don't think Publix will enter many markets outside of Charlotte because it puts them directly against Walmart and local retailers who understand those markets. Publix certainly stands no chance against Walmart. Charlotte is easy in comparison.
I think you have a point, but in the case of Gastonia, Teeter angered the locals. If Publix gets in 1st, Harris Teeter will struggle to win a lot of people back. They also are used to operating with Ingles & the 2 stores play to different audiences in Upstate SC.
Kings Mountain might work for them as the Kings Mountain Ingles draws well from Northern Cherokee County, SC. People with money in Shelby would be more likely to go to Kings Mountain than to drive all the way to Gastonia.
There's also a good probability for Concord, as it would be on the way to the Triad, where they will surely be headed once they get a distribution center going in Charlotte.
Not just the bread, the entire bakery! And their customer service cannot be beat. I am fine with folks not liking it, just means less people to contend with
Yes! Their bakery is amazing! I bought a cake there just yesterday for a party and it was soooo good. Chocolate cake layered with chocolate custard, iced with chocolate whipped frosting, and topped with chocolate ganache and glazed strawberries.
I can't stop thinking about it. I already told my husband I want a cake from there for my birthday.
Went to the Indian Land Publix this past weekend. I don't get the hoopla. Nothing special here, folks. I ended up having to stop by Harris Teeter and Fresh Market to get a few specialty items that weren't available at Publix.
Not one thing in that store that seemed a better buy or a superior brand to what I can find at H-T.
