From a business standpoint, when you already have 2 of your stores within such a close proximity of each other, to the area of and around Marvin, one slightly northeast and the other slightly southwest, why would you build another one?
Marvin may have them in mind, but if I was a planner at Publix, dealing with expansion, I'd be looking at other places that made more sense, rather than saturate that market area and wind up slitting my own throat.
They seem to be doing fine with their strategy.
More stores in a single area drives economies of scale.
Bloom has a policy that if the price is wrong at the register they will refund the amount for 1 item of its kind.
We bought grouper (1lb/11.99)...and we purchased only 1/2lb.
They charged us 11.99..so we went to customer service..and they refunded us the the whole 11.99.
We love Bloom because they always at least one item that has a wrong price.
So we always get something for free.
I miss the cuban bread from Publix....
My Publix has Cuban bread made daily (two types, one with fat and the other not). It is the first thing I asked about when they opened. It's in the Bakery.

Look for the cuban bread in the paper, that is the good stuff
Why are the grocery stores (Harris Teeter, Lowes) so much more expensive around here ( RT521 around Ballantyne) than they were in S. Florida? I always notice that the same items I used to buy at Publix are on average $1.oo more here. I was in Greeneville last weekend and went shopping at a publix there and realized how much I miss that store. I am seriously considering making the 3 hour round trip once a month to go shopping there. Besides I miss thier french bread from the bakery.
Does anyone know if there is a Publix closer to Charlotte other than Greenville/Simpsonville area?
