I find it interesting how pick ups are marketed. If you believed the ads then every truck would be at a work site 5 days a week and never being used for pedestrian, unmanly activities like picking up groceries. At least minivan ads depict how the vehicles are used in the real world with moms picking up kids at practice and school. But of course this is America and fantasy sells better than reality.
That's a strange way to look at it. I mean, they have to market the advantages one type of vehicle has over another, right? So they show a guy in a truck towing a big boat in order to catch the attention of the guy who wants a boat and make him say "Oh, yeah, if I want to get a boat I better get a truck first." I see nothing deceptive about it.

Have you watched TV in the past year or two? Almost every commercial for pickup trucks nowadays advertise how family-friendly they are.
I'm conservative, but the US should tax the crap out of truck owners unless you can prove that you need one at least 2 to 3 times a month, or live a reasonable distance from a place where you can rent one, or need one for emergency reasons etc.
Why should the US tax the crap out of truck owners? What about people who drive an Escalade? What about a Corvette?
You cannot be conservative if you want the government acting like this. When have to prove to the massive federal government we need something to avoid taxes - all things are going to hell.
I find this thread amusing. In the spirit of continuing the thought process, my new thread, "what's the point of owning a pencil?" will be up shortly.
What's the point of having a door on your house? You only really need it part of the time, and when you don't need it you have all that hassle of opening it when you want to go in or out.

You're right! Then tax the crap out of you if you have bedrooms in your house you don't need. 2 people and 2 1/2 baths? Tax them! Tax everything at Costco's double unless you can prove you need 25 pounds of rice or a 10 gallon jug of mayo at once. I get this now.....hey this is fun.......I should run for office!

What about fuel economy ($$$) and environment (killing our kids future aka our planet)?
Don't hate me ... just asking.
