Yes I notice that too. It's blocked. At least before you could read some of the article but now it takes up the whole page and you read anything.

When they do that I definitely won't subscribe.

I use a Mac.
Apple News+ allows me to read almost all of the Statesman and several other papers and magazines for $5.50 mo.
I get to select which ones I want to read, and I can add more or drop any of them at any time.

By the numbers: The hottest city is Boise City, Idaho, with 94.8% job growth compared to its pre-pandemic baseline in February of 2020.

Boise City, a burgeoning tech hub, has seen steady job growth — and outpaced other U.S. cities — for the last decade or so, AnnElizabeth Konkel, an economist at Indeed, tells Axios.

I have a realtor who sends me the monthly report on estimated home values in Idaho Falls. (He wants to be my realtor if I ever decided to sell my house.)

I own a home that's around 2500 sq.ft., built in 1958. Single car garage, 3bdr., 2 baths, in good condition.
When I bought it in 2004, I paid $112,500 for it.

The last report has the average price of a house this size and age at $407,975.

The average of the days on the market has slowed down to 37 days, down from 2 weeks last summer, but there are only 4 houses available right now at that price.

So I'm left wondering what I would do if I ever was forced to sell this place for some reason.

The dreams for the physical museum aren’t small. Louangketh envisions building or securing an 80,000- to 200,000-square-foot building in or near downtown Boise.

Quote:
The first big public push for fundraising is set to happen on April 30. The Idaho Museum of Diaspora will host the Experience the World in Idaho Gala at the Boise Centre. The event’s partners include Cushing Terrell and the city of Boise. “Why not Idaho?,” Louangketh said. “If we can do this in Idaho — when we do this in Idaho — we can do this anywhere. ... We can prove to the world that, Paris, you can do this, Frankfurt, you can do this, Hong Kong, you can do this, Johannesburg, you can do this, Brazil, you can do this. You have the financial means. You have the resources that Idaho doesn’t. And look what we’ve been able to accomplish.”

The interest rates will still be way low compared top most of the last 50 years.

yup.
In 2001, I purchased a home with a 10% rate, which was a lot less than the 15% I paid for another home earlier.
At one point, the average rate hovered around 20% for over 2 years. It very gradually descended to 10%, and that's where it stayed for years and years.

My present home's original rate was close to 8% when I bought it, but in late 2006, as the housing bubble was nearing it's bursting point, I had an opportunity to re-finance it at 4%, and grabbed it. The interest rate plunged a lot faster than it rose and once it started going down, never came back up.

I could get a lower rate today, but I decided to keep it as it is, because I'll soon reach the point where I'm paying more capital than interest. When that's reached, I will begin doubling the payments which will clear the mortgage pretty fast.
