This map seems to be based on mostly the author’s feelings about particular areas, and not grounded in fact or reality.

I don’t know what happened to the OP, JacobMax, but if you look through the thread, this person did seek opinions from Broward residents and asked for verification of crime stats and other data. It’s been awhile since the map has been updated though.

I’ve been a Broward resident, continually, for almost 30 years. I can say with reasonable accuracy that a lot of OP’s ratings are nonsense. This area just changes too fast for the old map to be relevant.

Agree. What strikes me is Oakland Park. Most of Oakland Park east of 95 is now very safe and is rapidly undergoing a renaissance. I wouldn’t put it “red”, not in the least. That needs to be fixed to update today’s trends.

Exactly what I’m saying, thank you. Even if the map was updated, I still think that arbitrary pieces of info and anecdotal evidence would not constitute a strong, reliable map. What sense does a “quality of life map” make anyway? Quality of life is in the view of the person living the life, so by definition a map of it is a nonsensical concept.

IMO, the only use of this “QOL map” is to provide arbitrary validation as to where people chose to live, which should not matter to anyone in the slightest as YOU are the one living there and thus the person dealing with it, not the people you’re seeking validation from.

How can we edit this map to reflect what’s proper? It’s, unfortunately, giving newcomers some false information.

That’s a good question. Maybe ask a mod? Or I wonder if the mod will no longer have it as a stickie since the OP is no longer around to make suggested updates.

I’m not really familiar with the software they used to make the map, so I couldn’t say.
