The map was done 4 years ago by a City-Data forum poster, with input by existing C-D posters. It's supposed to give a gauge of desirability/quality of life issues (crime, schools, amenities, housing values, etc).

I realize that you have chosen a private school, so this doesn't directly impact you, but in looking at the public schools, it's zoned for some fairly low/average rated ones, which could have some effect on desirability--this is just a guess on my part.

Can anyone respond about how accurate this map still is, as it's been 4 years?

Thanks

(looking for home in Broward after living in Miami-Dade for 43 years)

It's still fairly accurate, as is the Miami-Dade map.

It will be improved and updated soon, unfortunately due to changes in the Google My Maps platform it will take some time as I'll have to most likely have to redo all of the color coding again, like in the Miami map which is the one being updated now.

It is still mostly accurate, especially as Broward doesn't change nor is as populated as Miami-Dade, however I recommend cross checking my map with the ones available here on City Data and Crime Mapping, as well as the Forum here definitely, and you can really get a good idea of how good/bad a certain neighborhood is.

However in the next few weeks I'll start again and would please like to ask for suggestions from people here, locals, so I can gather perspectives too together with the data already available which will be used for the updates.

Thank you for this kind service. It really is helpful to us, now that we're looking to move after living in Dade for a loong time.

Thanks for the support! I've already started checking and updating the Broward map, the main changes being just the new colors to be in accordance with the new ones available by Google, as they changed them and the My Maps system; and the neighborhood names feature was enabled. But I also made a few minor changes on more obvious locations that were outdated. Again, if anyone has suggestions they would be very welcome and helpful as I update the map.

Already updating the Broward map, made a few changes which were more obvious due to oversights when making the map the first time, still some stuff around several areas that need correcting/accuracy improvements.

If any of you locals have suggestions, just post them here and I'll check it out (thanks btw!).

The only suggestion I would make is to probably change the color of the section of Hollywood Blvd east of I-95 and west of Dixe where the City Hall is and south of Polk St, north of Van Buren to either Yellor or Blue. The rest of the map is pretty spot on from my experiences.

Yep, totally agree, an oversight there. Will check and make the change later. I also think most of of the map is now quite accurate, I'm just needing to fix a few issues/inaccuracies in NW Broward (Coral Springs, Tamarac and nearby). Thanks btw!
