Sorry I haven't jumped in here with a hint, been rather busy.

These three counties, do NOT include the two counties that were obsorbed into other counties. Just a general idea of where they are located is fine.

It was close, but Carter was not in Carter County.

Carter County was established in 1897 as one of the first two counties established in the Wyoming territory (the other one was Albany). It later became Sweetwater County.

Hanover County existed for 11 days in 1911. Then it was renamed Washakie County.

Pease County was created in 1869; became Johnson County in 1875.

(And Denver is currently beating the Giants...)

What is the largest coal mine in the USA?

There are two which claim the title, so you have to tell me on what basis you selected your answer.

(Hint: It is in Wyoming. )

The consolidated Black Thunder/Jacobs Ranch mine near Gillette, operated by Arch Coal, is the largest coal mine in the USA by production. Prior to the merger, Peabody's nearby North Antelope Rochelle was the largest by production.

VTRockHound, you are exactly correct.

Interestingly, The US Gov't still considers North Antelope Rochelle the largest, even though Black Thunder has been outproducing it since 2011.

(Leave it to the government to be two years behind...)

Another fun fact - both Black Thunder and Antelope became the largest coal mines of their day by consolidating two smaller, local mines.

You are up, VTRockHound!

Thanks! This should be an easy one.

With 183 named and unnamed glaciers, what is the second most glaciated mountain range in the lower 48 states (the Cascade Range in Washington with 700+ glaciers leads by a large margin)?

If this is still unanswered when I return next weekend, I'll take a stab at it...
