Near Daniel, Father Pierre Jean DeSmet celebrated the first Catholic Mass in Wyoming at the 1840 Rendezvous at the junction of Horse Creek and the Green River. Some sources claim 2000 trappers and Indians attended this mass. It has been known ever since as "The Prairie of the Mass."

After prohibition the drinking age was 21. Wyoming lowered it to 19 in 1973 (late Viet Nam era), then raised it back up to 21 in 1988.

DRINKING AGE IS FIERY ISSUE IN WEST - NYTimes.com

I remember feeling very resentful back in 1969 that I could be drafted to fight and die in Viet Nam but it was illegal for me to go into a bar and have a drink. It still makes no sense to me.
