Hints:

*The sheep industry started in southern Wyoming in the 1870's along the Union Pacific Rail Road. The coming of the railroad also led to large sheep drives from Oregon to the Wyoming along the old Oregon Trail. On some drives in the 1880's as many as 20,000 sheep would be trailed to Rawlins.

*The inventor was a blacksmith.

*Sheep wagons have been called "The original Wyoming RV".

*Around 1900, Schulte Hardware Company of Casper standardized the wagon as 11 feet long and 6 1/2 feet wide, canvas top and stove.

*By 1904, sheep wagons were being manufactured in the Big Horn Basin by D. V. Bayne of Thermopolis.

*Sheep wagons were also built by Jacob M. Schwoob of Cody.

*The wagons later could be purchased from, among others the Studebaker Brothers of Southbend, Indiana. Some are still in use in the Big Horn Basin.

The original sheep wagons had canvas tops, sometimes multiple layers insulated with sheeps wool or rugs.

I was just reading a few days ago about the Spring Creek raid, and came across this. Sheep wagons were supposedly invented by a blacksmith in Rawlins named James Candish in 1884.

That is correct! Your turn Poletop.
More about it here: Wyoming Sheep Photos

I find the sheep wagons interesting, the ways the interiors are cleverly designed to maximize comfort in a small space, much the same way sailboats are.

That's not a modern sheep wagon, this is a modern sheep wagon.

Note, enclosed cab, rubber tires, honda generator, gas stove, blue tank is tank for porta potti, speedometer, GPS system, yellow strobes, extendable mirrors, queen bed, lockable doors, skeeter proof, water tanks, feed rack, storage for food, and most importantly, a liquor cabinet. Has 2000+ miles on it, all going one way.

Nice amenities, but are you sure that is not a school bus?

I don't believe a clue is necessary.....

Where would you find the oldest ranger station in the United States, and what is its name? (located in the Shoshone National Forest)

Wapiti Ranger Station is the oldest, located 30 miles West of Cody.
