Looks like even Florida won't escape the cold hitting the eastern part of the continent late week.

First time we have had weather like this since the first week of 2010. 41 here now. Don't look like anything below 34 for my area this week. But 50 miles north will see some 20's. Just 20 to 50 miles make a big diff in temps in my state. Miami was around 80 and 300 miles to the north was in the 30's. If it was clear and calm the temp would be around 36 now. Solid clouds will keep us warmer tonite and no low 30's for my area.

I'm headed up to the UP of Michigan and northern Wisconsin in mid January. I usually go at least once a winter to partake in a variety of winter sports not possible further south, and reconnect with my Nordic roots. With the high latitudes warming so much globally, temperatures in the upper Midwest have been 50-60F colder than Scandinavia over the past few weeks- even though they are moderated by the Gulf Stream.

Gonna have to break the speed of light and go back in time to Jan 19th 77 to see that.. Upper levels are too warm and with over running it just won't happen. North of Orlando about 80 miles just may get some mixed ice and rain .

I usually go to Vilas County- lots of lakes, plenty of trails, and great winter photography.

I know it's beautiful Up North. I'll go maybe in the summer.

But I'm glad you enjoy it. I'd like to see the pictures though. I do like snow - and as you know we don't get much down here except on rare occasions.
