Nice!! Although it's not from this NorEaster happening today. It's already almost past north of your latitude and moving away. It's from the trough moving in.... and then another coastal storm developing tonight. LOL. I cant keep up!

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE MOUNT HOLLY NJ
943 AM EST MON FEB 8 2016

STRONG LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM CONTINUES TO LIFT NORTHEAST OFF SHORE.
A LARGE EXPANSIVE AREA OF PRECIPITATION CONTINUES ON THE WEST
SIDE OF THE LOW. SO FAR, THE MAJORITY OF THE SNOW HAS REMAINED
OFFSHORE AND NORTHEAST OF THE AREA. HOWEVER, THERE IS A BAND OF
PRECIPITATION LOCATED RIGHT ALONG COASTAL OCEAN AND MONMOUTH
COUNTIES, AS WELL AS OTHER SCATTERED SHOWERS ACROSS THE REMAINDER
OF COASTAL NEW JERSEY AND COASTAL DELAWARE.

WINDS GUSTS ARE LIGHTENING A BIT AS THE PRESSURE GRADIENT WEAKENS,
BUT GUSTS 20-30 MPH WILL CONTINUE NEAR THE COAST THROUGH MUCH OF
THE DAY. INLAND, GUSTS ARE BEGINNING TO DROP OFF AS WELL, BUT A
STEADY NORTH-NORTHEAST BREEZE SHOULD CONTINUE.

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 AM TUESDAY/...
PRECIPITATION, GENERALLY SNOW OR A RAIN AND SNOW MIX WILL START TO
MOVE IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST DURING THE EVENING HOURS AS THE LEADING
TROUGH LIFTS INTO THE REGION. THE MAIN UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL REMAIN
WELL WEST OF THE REGION THROUGH THIS TIME, SO DO NOT EXPECT THE
HEAVIEST SNOW TO BE THROUGH THE OVERNIGHT HOURS, AND THE MODELS HAVE
IN FACT TRENDED SLIGHTLY DRIER THROUGH THIS PERIOD. EVEN SO, THE
SOUTHERN HALF OF THE REGION COULD SEE AS MUCH AS 4 INCHES OF SNOW IF
MESOSCALE BANDS DEVELOP EARLY ENOUGH.

.LONG TERM /TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY/...
THE SECONDARY COASTAL LOW THAT DEEPENS RAPIDLY OFF THE NC OUTERBANKS
MONDAY NIGHT IS EXPECTED TO MOVE TOO FAR OFFSHORE ON TUESDAY TO
DIRECTLY IMPACT US. HOWEVER, WE AREN`T OUT OF THE WOODS AS MODELS
ARE SHOWING THE PRIMARY SURFACE LOW REORGANIZING AS IT MOVES OFF THE
DELMARVA COAST ON TUESDAY. THIS SEEMS LIKE A PLAUSIBLE SCENARIO
SINCE THE INITIAL MILLER-B LOW IS EXPECTED TO MOVE WELL OUT TO
SEA (LEAVING SOME SEPARATION BETWEEN THE TWO) AND THERE LOOKS TO
BE ANOTHER MID-LEVEL SHORTWAVE TROUGH ROTATING AROUND THE UPPER
LOW THAT WOULD CONTRIBUTE TO HEIGHT FALLS AND COASTAL
CYCLOGENESIS.

The snow here is Not heavy wet snow but not real Fluffy snow either. Just normal. Sticking to trees. Back to pretty again. Lets see how long it lasts this time. lol

Satellite loop shows 3 things nicely.

The NorEaster, the trough digging down to the south, and the Clipper inside that trough over the Great Lakes. Florida getting some clouds from the West

NWS says 6-9" for my town. Then bitterly cold with low of zero Sat. nite. Wundergrounnd predicts another 8-13" next Mon.-Tues.

Zero's unusual for north central Md. Lowest I ever saw on my thermometer was minus 10 in the early eighties during what they called the new ice age.

Just imagine if it was closer. NYC literally on the edge. Should be ending soon as the storm pulls away.

It's actually 41° in Philly right now. 29 at Islip. 27 Bridgeport. 23 Hartford.

Only 1.5" so far here. Couple more hours and it's done for Western CT. What a sharp back edge.

With temps, Satellite and Storm reports. 4-6" already on the ground on the MA capes

Yep, lol, I'm in the 7 inch area.

4-8 inches is another estimate from the Winter Storm Watch:

... Winter Storm Watch in effect from late tonight through late
Tuesday night...

The National Weather Service in Mount Holly has issued a Winter
Storm Watch... which is in effect from late tonight through late
Tuesday night.

* Locations... far southeastern Pennsylvania... northeastern
Maryland... northern Delaware and southern New Jersey.

* Hazard types... snow.

* Snow accumulations... potential for 4 to 8 inches of snow late
tonight through Tuesday night.

* Timing... snow is expected to develop late tonight and may become
moderate or heavy especially south and west of Philadelphia. The
snow has the potential to be moderate or heavy for a period
either Tuesday or Tuesday night. Snow may also mix with rain
closer to the coast and in the Delmarva... which could cut down
on totals.

* Impacts... snow may impact travel late tonight through Tuesday
night... including the rush hour commutes.

* Winds... northeast winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph late
tonight into Tuesday.

* Temperatures... lower to mid 30s.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow... sleet... or ice accumulations that may impact travel.
Continue to monitor the latest forecasts.

Snowfall and ice accumulation forecast maps in addition to
experimental probabilistic snowfall information for the latest
event are available online at Mt Holly/Philadelphia Winter Weather

Radar loop past 7hrs.

Wall up in NJ.

NYC got lucky to get an inch out of it.

Western CT got lucky to get that band that developed.

Eastern MA has had purples over them for a while now! Bet you they are approaching 10" in spots now.
