I'm glad the precip shield was that far north and west!

1005mb Low off the coast. Back edge of precip now in NJ still got some more to go. Many Heavy Snow metars from Long Island, CT up to Maine

When this was the look of the Water Vapor Satellite yesterday at lunch time....

and this was how it looked in the evening ...

You know we were in for a good snowstorm!

Now look... Notice that spin in the Atlantic north of the islands... All part of the Puzzle. Dry air now working in behind the Northeast snowstorm

Should actually be closing in on 10" now, not 7". All I can do is laugh, a foot of snow out of a storm that was never supposed to give us much more than a coating.

Time to shake them off. Shoveled twice out there and its heart attack type snow. Be careful guys
Yes, even some of the smaller/medium sized rhododendrons are pinned to the ground under the weight of this snow, so glad I covered some things over. The pines and conifers look great in it though, even if they are weighed down.

Insane. Can't keep up with the updates. Most of it has fallen (except in Maine & NH)

New update, now larger area of 8-12" expected on Long Island, CT and into MA

7" of cement snow. All done

the very back edge is now entering NYC. I'm already seeing 8-12" reports out there.

Here in Aurora, ME, 29F, Snowing heavily, accumulation of at least 6" at around 3:00pm. Snow beginning to blow in drifts (which is amazing because it's so wet and I had a hell of a time shoveling)! Winds, North 10mph, gusts 17mph.
Hoping with the winds we won't lose our electricity (thankful I was able to get a nice hot shower after shoveling, though), actually still amazed it's on!
