20s forecasted down to Mid Atlantic tonight so Southern NJ blueberry farms are worried. I think they are already in mid 20s at 10pm. That means mid 20s wont just be for couple hours. Ouch! We might be hearing some not so good news from farmers and crops.

Models are busting too warm already in spots. NWS is going to need to lower temps more and issue more alerts. Not good

Yup. Make that a 1-2-3 knockout punch? We might not be ahead of normal bloom/leaf after all.

Max temps today. Is that 27 Binghamton? Wow. Normal is 50°! Their low was 12°this morning, normal is 32°! Crazy.

A RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE OF 9 DEGREES WAS SET AT SYRACUSE NY TODAY. THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 15 SET IN 1982

A RECORD LOW MAXIMUM TEMPERATURE OF 27 WAS SET AT HARTFORD CT YESTERDAY . THIS BREAKS THE OLD RECORD OF 32 SET IN 1908

So, this is because of a piece of the polar vortex broke off and came down to Quebec. I've asked this before in winter, but I'm not sure I got an answer. Is there anywhere else in the Northern Hemisphere that seems to be the favored destination of the vortex when it breaks down? Why does a piece of it never go over the PNW, or Western Europe? It seems that whenever it breaks down it comes right for eastern North America.

Am I wrong about this, or is this the fundamental reason why our negative anomalies are so high compared to the rest of the world going back decades? I now for a fact that in the 1980's they said the vortex parked itself over Montreal. I'm beginning to think it is impossible for it to go anywhere else. And forget about the southern vortex, that thing never even budges off of Antarctica. This is why the climate is a fail here.

Yup, I guess we are talking 20F below the avg low in those outlying areas with the peach orchards. Kind of incredible for April with those kinds of departures. I'm just so sick of these last three years at this point. Something has gotta to give sooner or later.

All I want next winter is for Seattle to get a 1950 winter. Then at least they can share our misery.

And how embarrassingly wrong were all the forecasts for a warm April or even warm Spring. Watch them all lower the temps for May now as well.
