Same here. I've been gaming for as long as I can remember and see no end in sight.

I'm 39 now and used to game every Saturday night with a buddy of mine before we (my wife and I) moved away. We'd still be gaming if we lived near each other.

What I find disappointing is how many men (especially young men) are still "surprised" to find out that there are female gamers. Millions upon millions of us. Come on, surely this can't really be news to you?

I love when i go to a guys house and him and his friends are playing video games and they offer me to play not thinking that i would know how to play and they try to show off, then i beat them at the game. The look on there face is priceless.

Default The more the merrier

I knew that games like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars have huge female followings but some other genres seemed dominated by males. Nonetheless, I’m happy to see the ladies getting in on the ever growing video game scene.

That sounds reasonable. Some genres appeal more to guys than they do to gals, but the gals are still there. I just find it funny that some fellows are shocked to find out that there are ANY female players out there .

I'm with the others in saying why not?? I'm 31 (soon to be 32), and still LOVE my games... not sure if I qualify as an "active gamer," especially since I have little free time, but I do what I can! My favorites are the Sim games, online silly action games (like Diner Dash), and for the PS3 I love GTA & Guitar Hero/Rock Band. Yeah, I'm a nerd & proud of it!

Yeah, we're infiltrating every aspect of society, LOL. Video games and poker aren't just for dudes anymore, and we're proving that gender doesn't matter in terms of ability... considering I can beat the pants off most men in certain games. And if you want to be REALLY impressed, you should meet my cousin who actually works in the gaming industry. My sister ran into someone who plays her game (LOTR online), and they were gushing when she told them her player name... apparently she's somewhat of a hero in that community!
