Want another hilarious quick point to show the Ignorance by so many???
You hear & read people blaming the wasted money due to TARP. You hear repeated direct attacks on Obama about TARP.
For those people, get your facts straight. TARP was Former President Bush's Initiaitive backed by his Republican allies when he was President It was a bold solution to KEEP the Entire US Economy from crashing under his watch. Pres. Obama then continued with managing TARP disbursements.
When you have about 35%-45% of our adult population who clearly have NO IDEA what the real story is & thus rely on Talk Radio & street activists for their facts- This Nation suffers.
It has & will always boil down to education.
P.S. One of the Biggest Laughs is when you hear people WHINING & COMPLAINING why the Jobs have Not come back yet. Why is the economy still weak. Do you people know how many BAD YEARS it took to get us here today? Now you expect some Prez who is in office for 16 months to turn this around just like that???
If the gov't held back & just gave tax cuts without a stimulus spending in the last 16 months, Do not even ask what our economy would look today.
Get an education. Talk Radio is not education.
Wow! Just Wow! Want to hear something hilarious?
It's not tarp money complain about. Tarp gets paid back. It's stimulous that was totally wasted. And that was Obama. And how would you KNOW what the economy would look like. Numerous economists say it didn't work. Are you an economist? Where did you get YOUR education. Maybe you should check out a few more media venues yourself and post some links.
And by the way...it was a democrat congress that passed tarp, and you're right. It boils down to education!
Let's not forget that Obama also voted for the passage of TARP as a senator as well as many of his democratic colleagues . TARP may have actually saved the economy, but the Stimulus Bill certainly hasnt lived up to expectations. The anti- business/capitalistic, job killing, big spending and big government policies of Obama have only only made things that much worse.

What I find outrageous is when public speakers particularly Rush Limbaugh & the National head of the Tea Party Equate Unemployment Insurance checks to Welfare Checks.
Then, when multiple callers challenge them on their assertion & Remind them that ...
1) People who are in UI have PAID into the system!!! Much More than they will ever collect.
2) The Overwhelming Majority of people collecting UI have been working for MANY MANY years in full time jobs before being laid off.
3) The overwhelming majority of UI people did NOT choose to lose their jobs- ergo, lose their homes, ruin their credit, destroy their lifestyle for the children, etc etc etc.
4) Being Laid off is COLOR Blind, IDEOLOGY blind , & POLITICAL PARTY BLIND! There are millions of conservatives, liberals, moderates, brown, whites, blacks- whO are collecting UI.
Thus, All these Republican Senators are Voting Repeatedly agains the Best Interest of the SAME people who voted them into office.
If your common man, woman just stopped & tried to understood what these politicians are actually doing in the name of politics and stupid ideology- we would have so much outrage out there.
sad, sad, sad state of how these politicians are screwing tax paying americans but never thought twice about spending 10 billion dollars a month in Iraq
Senate Vote May Be Enough For Passage of HR 4213 Tomorrow
It appears that on June 8, the House provided the Senate with a formal message ensuring that the House would agree to the amendments that the Senate was making to HR 4213.
If the Senate invokes cloture on HR 4213 tomorrow -- and gets agreement from the Republicans to waive the additional 30 hours which could be used for further debate -- the Senate can immediately pass the actual bill, HR 4213.
Provided that the Leadership of the Senate and of the House agree that the June 8 message described above still applies -- HR 4213 can then go directly from the Senate to the President for his signature.

Senate Calendar for July 20, 2010
• Following any Leader remarks, there will be a period of morning business with the time until 12:30pm equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees. The Majority will control the first 30 minutes and the Republicans will control the next 30 minutes. Senators are permitted to speak therein for up to 10 minutes each.
• The Senate will recess from 12:30 until 2:15pm to allow for the weekly caucus meetings.
• At 2:15pm, Carte Goodwin, of West Virginia, will be sworn as senator.
• Following the swearing in, the Senate will resume consideration of the House Message on H.R.4213, Unemployment Insurance Extension, with the time until 2:30pm equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees.
• At 2:30pm, the Senate will proceed to a roll call vote on the motion to invoke cloture on the motion to concur in the House amendment to the Senate amendment to H.R.4213, a bill to extend Unemployment benefits through November 2010.

Congressional Record/June 8, 2010
• At 10:04 a.m., a message from the House of Representatives, delivered by Mr. Novotny, one of its reading clerks, announced that the House agrees to the amendment of the Senate to the bill (H.R. 4213 ) to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to extend certain expiring provisions, and for other purposes; with an amendment to the Senate amendment to the bill, in which it requests concurrence of the Senate. Still far to cryptic to see what exactly is getting voted on tomorrow. I don't see anything new added since the last cloture vote on the Reid/Baucus amendment that was voted (cloture) on June 30th.
Still appears to be up in the air on what exactly is included in tomorrows HR 4213 bill.
This story appears to be pointing to more of a UI bill again. But until we see the full text of it who knows.

I absolutely agree that ARRA has been a complete failure. Has it done at least some good somewhere? Of course. But it was sold to us as a recovery package that would keep unemployment below 8%. It didn't, it in fact, surged. It was supposed to provide short and long term relief to the nation's surging foreclosure/delinquency rate. It hasn't, it in fact, surged. It was supposed to create a surge in private sector hiring. It hasn't, it has remained stagnant. It was supposed to save and create 3-4 million jobs in 2 years. They claim it has, but they have absolutely no proof to back those numbers up. It was the most expensive/comprehensive recovery package in US history...and we've got little to show for it...over 16 months later. Even long term prospects remain quite bleak.
The democrats have said it themselves...the unemployed getting their checks do in fact, stimulate the economy. So, if the republicans continue to obstruct, let's start reserving remaining ARRA funds for the unemployed. I had very little desire to apply for one of the many stimulus-created "green" jobs...whatever the heck that is, anyway. In the meantime...again...let's all collectively come up with solutions to generate job growth in private sector. Lock'em all in a room, I don't care. We're not going anywhere until small/medium/large companies start hiring again. I want a job...I want to go back to work...I'm sick of relying on the government to give me my weekly check.
Nothing for the red headed step child of the unemployed. The 99'ers

Nothing for the 99ers in the currently proposed legislation that extends eligibility cut-off dates through November 2010 -- but White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on Monday that emergency unemployment insurance will likely be needed beyond November as millions of Americans are expected to still be out of work in the fall.
Gibbs offered no specifics about how the White House would proceed in setting in motion legislation for the additional extension -- nor whether the increasing number of 99ers would be eligible for that extension later this year. But it is considered significant that the White House is now publicly acknowledging the need to continue extending federal unemployment benefits after the mid-term elections.
