Wow, Dellview Music. I almost forgot about that place! I remember it, but I don't know that I ever actually went in there.

That was a very popular strip center when I was a kid in the sixties. It had Dellview music way back then with My favorite Slot Car Track right next door. There was an HEB, a Dellview Pharmacy, a WINNS, Daura's Shoes, A hardware store that later became an auto parts store a few more that I can't remember. All around 1965.

I believe the first Toy Box was in that strip center?

your really close!! But believe me-I would know where the Toy Box was! It was a couple of blocks down. There was a Model Market and then the Toy Box. A Barber shop too I think. Cano's Mexican Food was there on the end for years. Joe Berlanga's upholstery shop is near there too..He has been been at that location for as long as I can remember..

I grew up right in the Allena Village area.. used to love Winns and their toy section. They also had the best greasy popcorn in those long, tall bags. There used to be an old music store there too.

Don't forget about the multi-colored baby chickens Winn's sold.

Does anybody remember the early days of computers? Datapoint made a personal computer but their main client back then was USAA. I used to work in computer rooms cutting holes in computer floors to run cables. Remember some of the languages? FORTRAN? COBOL? I took a computer course at UTSA in the late seventies. It was all punch cards! A real pain to use. There was a big debate over which system would eventually take over--The Main Frame Vs. The Personal computer. Secretary's all needed to learn Word Perfect. I joined the Comodore 64 club. Now THAT was a computer!

Datapoint was actually a customer of mine during their heyday - had a cousin working there as well.
