I went to the same exact middle school that supfromthesite went to.

Harassment of white kids was pretty bad back in the early 90's when I went there but things may be different now.

Likewise, there are only certain types of Blacks that Mexicans feel comfortable using the n-word around.
What type of blacks?

There were two groups of white kids, football players and country boys that had ranches/rich parents, I didn't have a ranch or rich parents or play football so I didn't fit in with either group until midway through 8th grade. So before that it was open season for some of the Mexicans to pick on me.

This was within the past 10 years but about 10-15 years ago my step mother's brother was stabbed for being white and hanging out with his friend in the barrio, he wasn't doing anything and got jumped by two guys.

I was one of the only white kids that didn't grow up there and didn't have a big group that would protect me if I got picked on

I understand. People can't always bully who they want so they bully who they can. And there's certainly no group that's above racism. It definitely exists in San Antonio.

There are some parts of the barrio you do NOT hang out if you are not Mexican...definitely the rule 20-30 years ago. I don't know your age but if you are as old as I am...then you will remember that even prostitution was going on in the barrio as well...on the corner as you drive down 14th street. Hondo cops didn't do much about it if anything at all back in those days.

Interesting, I never knew San Antonio had areas where you couldn't go down to. I thought I was more of an East, West Coast thing.
