That's a small watering trough. Would never have thought of that application to tell the truth. Don't see why it wouldn't work great, plus be wicked deep for those long soaks.

Yes it is indeed a livestock tank....

We had the builder put in a drain and slope it a little when he installed it.

And yes it IS very deep for a good soak, fits two quite well too....

I was at a party in a 60 X 40 ft all metal airplane hanger a couple of days ago. One half was open to the roof and the other half has a "attic" made of insulated metal. This served as sleeping quarters.

THIS HANGAR HAD RUNNING WATER AND A FLUSH TOILET!!

The floor was equipped with in floor radient heat supplied by a oil fired water heater. There was a seperate coil/fan unit in the attic

Both the women I asked said that indeed they could live there. Way cool. Both the building and the girls.

I would but one with at least a six foot side wall in the attic.

Rustic, but elegant. Mrs. Oz is very talented. Are you clearing the land by hand, or is there machinery involved?

Well this past weekend I was marking the trees we wanted to keep and cutting the rest with the trusty chainsaw...cut down about thirty or so trees.
Only cut myself once with the chainsaw too...Looked like someone had shot me in the leg it bled so much.

We also have a tractor but we need to buy a bush hog.

Hi All,

I know this thread is a little out of date but I found this site by searching for some information about converting a metal building into a home. All of the replies were so good I thought I'd post my question in hopes that someone can help me.

We have a 30X40 existing metal building, on a concrete slab with sewage and water lines and electricity in one corner of the building already, on our land along with a very small cottage type house. We are currently living in the house but would like to convert the metal shop into our home.

I've read all of the wonderful advice about how to insulate it. Currently there is rolled insulation in the ceiling and that's all. The problem is that there are 2 large roll up doors, one on each end of the building.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do with the doors if we convert it? Is it even possible?

If I've done it correctly, I've attached a picture of the building below.
