Guess my luck has changed for the better. Landed this nice Redfish from my dock last night, life shrimp on the bottom.

My first Redfish since moving here too.

Those of you who have fished the Myakka River, what is the general area where you start to get more into fresh water fish such as crappie, catfish, etc? Or do you need to be in the two small lakes to get those kind of fish?

Default Speckled Trout Bite

Luckily I’ve been having some success drifting the flats outside of Pirate’s Harbor. On three different trips over the last couple of weeks there has been a steady morning bite on a moving tide, mostly incoming. Bunches of undersized, but usually managing a limit by around noon. Also catching a few reds which is nice. Certainly don’t mind releasing these, just good to see them. Even had a brief hookup on a small tarpon.

Just wanted to share. Good luck and keep casting…
First time trying to post pics, hope it works.

Pirate Harbor is on the east side of Charlotte Harbor, between PGI and Burnt Store Marina (Zemel Rd. and Burnt Store Rd.).

Wow, really nice Trout. I was out on Friday, I tried to fish the mangroves along the west Wall. I could not get within 100 yards of them due to the extreme low tide. Gave up that idea and fished the 44 Bridge instead. Caught some Jack Crevalle and a thirty-five to 40 pound Black Drum.
