This could get uglier than it already has been.

Israeli doctor in Italy: We no longer help those over 60

Israeli doctor Gai Peleg, who is currently working to save lives in Parma, Italy, told Channel 12 that things are only getting worse as the number of patients keeps growing.

As his department receives coronavirus patients who are terminally ill the focus is to allow patients to meet loved ones and communicate with them during their last moments despite the quarantine regulations. Other reports claim that, as the numbers of dead increases, some families find themselves unable to secure a proper burial for their loved ones.

Peleg said that, from what he sees and hears in the hospital, the instructions are not to offer access to artificial respiratory machines to patients over 60 as such machines are limited in number.

I'm confident in believing that certain people over 60 would have access.

The # 60 is scary. I wouldn't be as surprised if it was over 70. But 60 years old isn't THAT old if you consider so many people still live easily for another 10-15 years.

No disrespect here but does it make more sense to cremate given what is going on? I can't see their being funerals/memorials at this time so having a body present makes no sense.

I'm not sure how Italy views cremation but it's becoming more common in the US.

Dang - you went from stating that 60 is too young - to cremating them.

I assume you aren't being crude about it - but that was quite a pivot you did there.

Yeah a pretty horrible situation. But it seems they had little choice.

Israel is doing the same.

Oh yeah, the elite over 60 would have access. Rules for the minions don't apply to them.

Can't let go of ideological stupidity even now. I guess the "magic" of the free market would have had more ventilators available now....

...newsflash, there would be even less as there were more than demand called for, and that's a no no for profits.

What do you think is going to happen here when we run out of ventilators? This is not a rhetorical question... what do you seriously think is going to happen?

I find myself wondering if my CPAP machine might help.
Probably a little. I rarely used it anymore, so I used it last night. Felt pretty good!
