I figured that rather than trust any of you clearly partisan windbags I should go look it up for myself.
The bottom line is that neither party really wants to close it that badly but it keeps getting brought up to try to embarass Obama over a failed campaign promise. Naturally Obama's supporters counter by blaming the other party.
