Not what I said. You said guns don't reduce crime. They do, go anywhere there is open carry and go to a place where everyone is openly carrying their weapon and see how brave you are with your gun. Nobody would do it unless all they wanted was suicide.

I haven't read through the thread, however I just wanted to note that a significant portion of the increased violence/murder is more closely linked to the teardown of a lot of the highrise projects and the residents being relocated to different areas of the city, than to the hand gun ban being lifted.

No, gun laws have little impact on criminals....not law abiding people, huge difference, which you are unable to understand.

Since criminals are the ones that commit crime, it's logical that gun laws have little impact on gun homicides.

It depends, are you talking about people who are criminals or people who are not criminals?

Chicago is a special case as their death toll rivals foreign battlefields.

If a handgun ban were to be lifted in that murder center of excellence, I would expect the good guys now have guns and can defend themselves against criminals, Therefore the death toll should initially rise until the real dumb bad guys are woofed by the new gun legal owners.

On the other hand the rise in homicides may not have involved handguns, maybe they were shot with long guns. Did you check? Maybe the rise had to do with a gang turf war or new marketing strategy for drugs. The link to the handgun ban being lifted and an increase in homocides is pure speculation.

The gun of choice for gangs is cheap hand guns.

Thank you for coming around!

Gun banning has little effect on gun homicides. When open carry is allowed, gun crime goes down. This is a fact that cannot be escaped.

So the real question is, why is banning guns still seen as a solution for crimes like Aurora and sandy Hook? Preventing law abiding citizens from defending themselves against the criminals who are armed and dangerous is not the solution.

You guys may know about guns but you don't know crap about Chicago, the neighborhoods were the shootings occur, or the thugs who commit the crimes. I've lived on the South and West Side. I've known plenty of gangbangers growing up.

The thugs getting shot at don't give a rats ass about conceal and carry, and even if you were to legalize it, their felony records would prevent them from obtaining a license, so it makes no difference.

Gangbangers will continue to get shot , flooding the hood with guns will not reduce it, the only way you are going to reduce homicides in Chicago is if you integrate the super poor into middle class and upper middle class neighborhoods, and that I can bet will not happen, at least not in our lifetime.

So, you admit that more laws will do nothing?
