Chicago eliminates hand gun ban, homicides rise by almost 25%, I thought guns were supposed to reduce crime? (legal, weapons)

The young gang members who are going at it now in select areas of the city and what's driving that in 2012 has NOTHING to do with the gun ban. NOTHING.
According to the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, Mayor Emanuel and the Chicago City Council have been putting up blockade after legal blockade to keep Chicagoans from obtaining handguns and the range-training as stipulated to defend themselves, with the result being that law-abiding Chicagoans are defenseless.
“At the same time, however, the [Responsible Gun Owners] Ordinance prohibits all ‘[s]hooting galleries, firearm ranges, or any other place where firearms are discharged,’” states a 2011 appeals court challenge, Ezell v. Chicago, to the gun-range restriction in Chicago.
“The Ordinance also prohibits the ‘discharge [of] any firearm within the city,’ making no exception for controlled shooting at a firing range -- because, of course, firing ranges are banned throughout the city,” the opinion continued.
You have a corrupt Mayor who follows the law about as well as Obama follows the Constitution. He is the masters apprentice.
The ban is lifted so he blocks gun ownership by making it impossible to get a gun. Now there's no ban, but nobody has weapons, so guns are still in the hands of criminals. Oh MY, see how banning guns is so much safer. It's a win win!
The example above is exactly what most gun owners fear, a bunch of laws that skirt the constitution with a lot of red tape and making it impossible to own a gun.
Chicago has a ban on conceal carry, so no one can legally remove their handgun from their home. So unless all these homicides are being done in people's homes, your argument is all wet.
Law abiding citizens are not killing people in drive-by shootings. The criminals still cannot purchase handguns.
The status quo in Chicago is gang members committing drive-by shootings on the public streets, these shootings are not being done by people who legally purchased a handgun. Owning or carrying a handgun will not protect people from drive-by shootings, since their handguns are back in their home.
then again, I do not credit liberals with the intelligence to actually think thru their positions on the issues, nor analyze their public statements before the make them either.
