I personally really liked TDKR. I don't think it is at all comparable with TDK because they are very different types of movies. This was really the anti-TDK if you think about it. The villain was a psychical rival with Batman more than intellectual (not to say he was dumb, but they were able to figure out his plots easily) which set up a war situation not the crime-psycho thriller of TDK. Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt really carried this film when we saw Batman/Bruce, Commissioner Gordon, Alfred, and Lucius Fox a whole lot less than expected. I thought both Hathaway and G-L were excellent. Loved the scenes with Bruce in the prison because it really showed his strength and his determination to help the people of Gotham. The ending rivaled the perfect ending the TDK (though I think it fell short of it slightly). It did make for a very interesting spin-off/sequel possibility. I know a lot of people complained about the slow first half, but I thought it made for the perfect contrast to the quick-paced second half because a full movie of that intense of action would have been too much. Very emotional movie and excellent effort for the third in a great trilogy.
Well, Bane is supposed to be more physical than calculating (although he is still very smart), so I could see why they would go with that angle. I just wish they would make at least one more with BOTH Batman and Robin.
Its time they make a comedy Batman and Robin Movie in the spirit of the 1960s TV series. They've done the dark action drama angle to death and just can't offer any kind of new perspective to it. It would make tons of money and the costs to make it would be minimal compared to the special effects laden efforts they keep having to make.
They could even do a television series again. part of the series charm was that it was campy and had those guest stars portraying villains and doing cameos.

Totaly, completely agree. I thought the movie was awsome and kept thinking two different animals I can't say one is better than the other as I loved them for very different reasons.
Ok, overall TDKR was great but I had three issues with it:
1) I couldn't understand half the stuff Baine was saying
2) The music score drownded out the characters at some points in the movie.
3) Batmans deep voice is annoying.
I like how it all came together at the end though.
Why did "Miranda Tate" have sex with Bruce Wayne? I've been a Batman fan for decades and know about the lover/enemy relationship between Talia and Bats, but Talia in the movie didn't even seem like she had any admiration or lust for Batman. Was it to weaken him before his big fight with Bane?

Yes...you've answered your own question
I was very taken back by her. Didn't see that one coming.

This. I couldn't understand what he was saying either...it was annoying. Batman's voice too.
