Of course, this coming Saturday is one of the only days we actually have plans and will have to go out in the morning, afternoon and evening.

Don't go to White Mountains. One hiker died there last Christmas. This wave is even worse than the Christmas one.

Yeah it seems strange that it will be 17 degrees on Saturday then supposedly 44 on Sunday. I have something to do outside on Sunday so I hope that ends up being true.

You are a braver person than me! We had plans for Loon Saturday, but we scrapped them because of the temps. I have a feeling the mountains will be packed Sunday

A sizable area of Maine will have wind chill values during the day on Saturday of -25 to -35F, an airmass you don't want to mess around with.

Here is the forecast for the summit of Loon Mountain ski area:

I wouldn't go that far! We're actually doing Loon too. We're usually at Sugarbush or Sunday River, but our friends have a timeshare weekend that they weren't able to make, so we decided to take it and ski somewhere else for a change of pace and scenery. We're locked in on the stay, otherwise we'd probably bail too. We'll see how it goes. There's a good chance that with the combination of wind/cold that the mountain may not even open on Sat. I think we're almost certainly not skiing Saturday either way, and maybe not even Friday. A great excuse to go hide away at Rek-Lis or Schilling for an afternoon. But if we can get some turns in on Thurs/Sunday/Mon, I'll be pretty happy.

My NWS point forecast has moderated for Friday night. It’s now saying a balmy 3F at 4am.

Skiing, I adopted the 0F rule a decade ago. I wouldn’t budge until the digital thermometer on my kitchen window got to 0F. With heated boots and heated glove liners under mittens, I’m comfortable on the mountain then where it’s usually 10 degrees colder up on the hill. Any colder than that and I’m pretty uncomfortable on my second lift ride.

My buddy built a ice rink in his yard, and the original plan was to hang out Sat afternoon and let the kids skate, while we sit around the fire and maybe do a little grilling. But the windchills have postponed that plan.

I'm stocking up on Scotch, firewood, and plan to pick up some take-out sushi on Sat.

While i like to keep busy and always have things to do, I've decided Sat will be a lazy day around the house parked in front of the fireplace. I'm overdue one of those.

Saturday is the day you stay inside most of the day. I like to go for walks but it might need to be only a ten minute walk if that. At least the sun has returned here. I needed that sunny vacation that was the darkest I ever have seen mass. Good thing the cold is only around for two days then back to normal.

I live in a apartment can't have a wood stove. I don't think that would work.
