So maybe we are being blessed with comfy winters for those blizzradly winters we had to endure. All balances out.

There has been almost no winter at all in the Ohio Valley, much too warm across most of the eastern US. The colder air could quickly return in March leading to some severe orchard damage as things are emerging too quickly with warm temperatures across the southern 2/3 of the US east of the Rockies.

I think in most Winters, it's typical for us to have a window in January or February were we suddenly have a few warn days, in the 50s or 60s. Even when I was in college in the 80s in Worcester, there would be a couple of days where people would be running around in short-sleeves, kids would prop up stereo speakers in their windows and everyone would be hanging around outside, playing frisbee, etc. It never lasted long, but was always a nice teaser for Spring.

In more recent years, in Southern NH (where I lived before I moved to Northampton), there would always be a couple of days like that where the snow melted and I could get my dogs out for a mid-Winter trail walk, or the horse for a ride through local orchards.

This year is unusual, though, as we have had many of these types of days throughout the whole Winter so far. So strange, but I'm not going to complain about it. I was actually a bit shocked to open the door to falling snow at 6 AM this morning!

Worcester experienced an average T of 34.3 in January. Highest ever recorded and over 9F higher than the average 1991-2020. February seems on its way to be maybe not a record year but definitely and above average year.

Depending on where you are, next week could be real bad. Monday Night into Tuesday looks like it could be a ton of precipitation but also parts of Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Could end up being rain but it's close.

I'm leaving on Wednesday, I hope there's no problem with that.

It looks like anything from Attleboro to Taunton to Plymouth was 100% rain.

We had snow here in Western MA (at least in the Northampton area). Not a ton of it, but enough where a plow of my driveway was needed. It's very wet and sloppy, so I don't imagine it will stick around for very long.

Snow followed by freezing rain N and W and (some) in Worcester proper. Not much snow at all, is the freezing rain that followed that caused problems. My wife left early in the morning and she saw multiple crashes. I left later and saw a car that went off-road on 190 but nothing else.

Someone told that S of Worcester (as close as Grafton) was already mostly rain with a bit of snow.
