Ah yes, let’s leverage a legitimate health crisis, in which people are dying, to lobby your anti-reefer position. Have you no shame?

Serious answer: $0.

First, being exposed isn't avoidable forever so this offer is throwing money down a hole.

Second, 98% is still pretty good odds. If I die I die, and whether I do or not isn't within my control so there's no point to being fearful about it.

An awfully high fraction of jobs can't be telecommuted. White collar professionals? Sure, a large fraction of those. How do you telecommute a service sector job or a manufacturing job? All this does is widen the gap between the top-20% and the rest of the country.

The odds are extremely variable. Age 80+? COPD? Pretty poor odds. A Millennial who is healthy? The odds are far better than 98%.

I'm old enough where I have to pay careful attention to the risks. Until there is an effective treatment, a vaccine, or the disease magically vanishes into the ether, I'm in full germ-o-phobe mode. It doesn't mean my life stops but I'm going to keep to my very changed behavior.

The point isn't to question my hypothetical (that's why it's a hypothetical), the point is to accurately assess your own personal risk tolerance. You can, of course, question the premise, but that's a different problem. Experts think that letting the disease spread naturally will increase the mortality (of the disease, and generally from other stuff, as the hospitals will be overloaded).

So, here's a premise you can't question because it's entirely artificial. An executioner has a 50 chamber revolver. He puts one bullet in it. How much would you be willing to pay him not to shot you?

Absolutely. I have never had a job that could be done remotely.

Actually, I thought jobs that could be done remotely were more likely to be outsourced. Am I thinking of the rampant techie job days in eastern MA from some time ago?

I doubt it. I got this over the Christmas break and week after. It was as deserted when I live and work now as it was then... still got it.

Pretty good graphic showing the rate of cases for many states. If you open it up large and then use a ruler as a straight edge, you can see signs of beginning to crest.
I still say we are cresting. Though it might go up 400 or down 2000... if we are not seeing large jumps each day... we are not going to be seeing them. I say about 7 days from now we will start seeing declines.

And in news from the alternate universe, "Georgia Governor Brian Kemp Kemp (R-Ga.) said during a press conference Wednesday that he was just “finding out that this virus is now transmitting before people see signs.”
.... even as Dr. Anthony Fauci, one of the nation’s top health officials, has been hammering home the point for almost two months"

You must have got the flying variety.

Take a blood sample now and freeze it .... and prove all of us wrong when the antibody serology kits are readily available
