Again, it sounds like your husband is taking the 6 year old boy to the hockey rink.

No mention of the little girl.

Ok yes, some people 'use' school as daycare I suppose because it's a place for them to be safe while they provide for their families. Do you not think that in the process of sending a kid to this so called daycare that the hope is they get educated?

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make? how can society go on with working households also trying to educate their kids from home? Do you suggest people quit jobs and homeschool full time? Is that what you are hoping happens? Or you just want parents to shut up until this is over.

We have friends who send their kids to Derby Academy and Tenacres, it's about 40k a year and they are open 5 days a week. Lots of free time for mom and dad there i guess. Would you consider schools like this daycare or just public schools?

People have been sending their kids to school for centuries. Are you angry about that?

Yes, some do. My coworkers daughter has been playing since that age in an all-girls league. She loves it. He's coaching this year and they are disappointed that their season was suspended due to the rink closures.

This whole thread has gotten intense the last day or so. Looks like i'm gonna take a day off.

Son goes 4 times a week, daughter goes twice if you must know. Husband was not the only one taking kids to rink.

again what is your point?

Agree. We've gone away from discussing the coronavirus and the rising case load in MA, to talking about childcare/school/child activities constraints which by their very nature, will be unique to each individual.

That, for some people, the main concern about schools and sports is about getting the kids out of the house. It's irresponsible and reckless during a pandemic.

Should parents be happy with kids constantly being in the house? Even during a 'pandemic'.

I have heard of a few people who got corona and had no symptoms or felt like they had allergies. Not all of us are terrified of this virus.

I'm done here as well. Different strokes for different folks, but the lack of empathy this person has for parents of young kids is a bit sad and surprising. If covid was like cancer or aids you can bet we'd be locked up in the house, but that simply isnt the case. We certainly arent hosting parties or going to large events, we're not going trick or treating or doing our usual thanksgiving/xmas - but getting small children out of house doesn't seem entirely unreasonable.

I've had meetings over zoom the past 7 months that would have been much better to have in person. We make due where we can, but teaching the youth of america via zoom at this point (and for who knows how much longer) is not good.
My choice of: Sending kids to school where theres a chance to get coronavirus vs stay home and do zoom calls... I choose the latter, though I understand thats not as good as being in the classroom, to learn. But to me, that seems like a safer move.
