What are the implications to Massachusetts? Why did you post this?

I have the same problem with the news. The scary story is the lead and the retraction is buried on page 15 four weeks later. The news has a motivation to keep us on edge at all times. I would hope that this forum does not.

I posted the video because I thought it would be of interest to people here.

I'm sorry that it ruined your day.

I'm not sure what the issue with your post is? A pause in a vaccine trial for a virus that has hit Massachusetts particularly hard seems relevant to me. It does even have local ties (BIDMC is facilitating local trials). Sure, take issue with the fear mongering nature of some of the reports (this is a normal part of vaccine trials after all), but not the news itself.

Fully agree, and as I remarked earlier, far more relevant than the real estate musings which went far beyond the COVID impact discussion.

In fact, I'm a bit surprised that the chatter on here re: the virus itself has dropped off, as case counts have gone alarmingly high in Massachusetts. There was a >2 day lull between my post on Saturday and the flurry of activity this morning. Complacency setting in?

It was a nice long weekend for some. I'm sure many people were enjoying it.

Virus still front and center in our daily routine. Just nothing to complain about today.

The news needed more and better context. And in that context, it's not really noteworthy. Someone in the 60k person trial had an unexpected condition and the trial stopped. It's not clear if it's vaccine related or if the person even got the vaccine. The real takeaway should be that the many US and European-run vaccine trials are being taken seriously.

If the message is constantly "there is no end in sight, or ever likely" then people will stop trying to combat it.

Even the NYT is urging some optimism: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/12/h...-optimism.html

It helps to read about everything within an article. Drudge report linked to a story saying it was found on currency and could live for weeks. That's a half truth. It said *PLASTIC* currency, not paper. The US does *not* have plastic currency. This might be interesting because it is in use in Mexico, Canada, most of Europe and some of Africa, Asia and the middle east.

Thanks for posting this. The best perspective I've seen in a long time...not ignoring any of the facts, but pulling everything together into a narrative that's something other than the sky is falling. It seems like mid-2021 is the watershed. Not sure about you guys...but I've done 7 months of masking, social distancing, and WFH...I can do another 9 months if it means a return to normal after that.

I could accept mask usage for another 6 to 9 months which would put the end between March and June of 2021. I could accept social distancing for the rest of my life. I'd think of it more as an expansion of personal space.
