HVAC filters are all over the place. Not all are HEPA, and some of the non-HEPA on the market can have a pretty wide range

I think Merv 6 is the lower end of the HVAC market and I've seen up to Merv 13 offered for residential homes and commercial buildings. I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume most people just go to home depot and buy whatever is cheapest. Most of what I see are Merv 8 and 10

As far as I know, this place is not an understaffed Medicaid mill (where so many people have been stricken with COVID like a wildfire). It's the only place of its type in an affluent Boston-area town.

NY and other states are starting to extend their lockdowns to at least May 15th. I would expect MA to do the same here shortly.

Another 4 weeks (at least) to go....

My parents live in an assisted living facility. They've gone from 3 cases in the staff to 30 staff and 20 residents in three weeks with many being asymptomatic. The operator had already implemented a system where certain workers worked with certain residents to be able to contact trace, been checking temps regularly, and now has decided to test everyone. We are waiting to hear back in the next couple of days.

Dad is 85 (today!!) with COPD. Mom is 82 with very limited mobility. I wonder if I should bring them to my house to ride this out or let them stay at "home" where they are getting their care.

ya charlie baker is a this lockdown aint ending till at least July. He tells people do not even think about what life will be like after the lockdown. He has a nasty attitude. The red states will open up first and then the blue states will be pressured to open up after. Massechusetts will be the last to open up knowing charlie baker. the numbers are high in Mass anyway so a release of a lockdown might not be for another 2 months or longer.

I'm surprised that people are surprised with the extension.

Hard to know. Were they tested? They could be among the asymptomatic people. Even in the tragedy at the place in Littleton, many of the residents tested were positive with no symptoms. Would you be able to safely manage their appropriate care at your house?

Happy Birthday to your dad! I feel for your situation and if in your shoes would be inclined to bring them to my house if they test negative and if I had the room and time. However the devil is in the details.
