You can remember when we didn't have all of these unnecessary area codes. It was basically 213, 818, and 714. And that covered just about all of L.A. County, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.

There is still a property around here (in the 562 area code region) that has a 213 phone number posted on a sign as a contact number.

The sign has been there forever and it looks old.

I doubt that it is still valid.

I remember when my area code was 213.

I wasn't aware that I did this before you mentioned it.

We must all be hardwired.

I can't imagine saying that any other way!

8th graders at my junior high school went to Disneyland.

I had too many detentions and ISS's(in school suspensions) in 7th grade, so I couldn't go anyway.

I moved out of the state between those years, so it all became moot.

I am not exactly an Angels fan, but that is sacreligious.

I think you outrank me in SoCal seniority, Charles.

Hah - I have tape broadcasts of KFI, KABC, and "KICK" FM (I think that they were on the same frequency as KJACK - "playing what we want", but they were a country station).

I can't find my tape players - they are around but I don't use them anymore.

When I know that I can talk to an 18 year old who will ask me "what is audio tape", I must be getting old.

Either that or the world has changed way too fast.

You forgot riding a bike.

I am a white man and I do all those things - or did - before my bike was stolen.

Thank goodness for bike racks on buses.

If you see a white guy walking around or getting on a bus, it might be Harrier.

You consider hearing Spanish spoken and listening to Vin Scully to be the soundtrack of Los Angeles.

A corallary - you can instantly recognize Vin Scully's voice and know that you are listening to a Dodger's broadcast.

Vin Scully is amazing.

I hope that I am not alone in thinking that hearing his voice makes a southern Californian know that they are at home.
