Same. Although I did not have power, on Halloween I saw lots of coverage for all of Suffolk. Even saw Oakdale.

No one OUTSIDE of Long Island has seen Long Island on the news post-storm. That is a fact.

Lindenhurst IS a mess. And so is Fire Island and every town from Babylon to Queens, south of Merrick Rd. A big chunk of LI was severely damaged or destroyed by Sandy....and yet no one outside of LI knows this.

I have a big mouth, but I am not connected. I have been spreading the word on Facebook, etc. But who could make a real difference with this?

They'll discover Long Island just as soon as they are done reporting on NJ and Manhattan. Of course the public will have moved on to who Taylor Swift is dating by then as the big news story.

DIY, even if people outside the area knew I don't think it would move them much. Long Island is really only known by Islanders and people from NYC & California who vacation there. I'm not sure how Long Island gets heard from through the filter of NYC media.

That is unequivocally true. The national news media and our local news here in NW Michigan have never shown ANYTHING about Long Island. Just Jersey and Manhattan(
