Are you thinking of Wild Woody's that was around 31st and Noland on the east side of Noland?

The Holiday Inn on the northwest corner of Noland and 40 came in around 1954 or so.

And, for a couple of months, I worked at Stephenson's Old Apple Farm restaurant which was just down the road a couple of miles at Lee's Summit road.
In the photo I posted on page 750 you can see the Holiday Inn on the NW corner.

Stephensons burned down not too long ago didn't it? I worked in the kitchen which wasn't the cleanest in the world but always passed inspection. It was good training for the KP's I had to pull in the service.

They closed suddenly and without warning a few years ago, on account'a KCPL cut off electrical service to them for severe delinquency. To add insult this happened on Valentine's Day. Many happy couples arriving for a romantic dinner became hungry and unhappy at that turn of events.

Later the contents of the building were auctioned off. The building was razed and a new Quik-Trip now occupies that corner.

A very busy 1963 view. At the top is construction of I-70 (Venture will build just north on the east side, facing south). South of the soon to be I-70 is Wild Woody's. South of that is the beginnings of Tomasha.

Wild Woody's began in a barn--what year I dont know. And then he added piecemeal seemingly like every couple months or so. It just kept growing and growing and was always busy. I dont know when he went out of business either

There is a Wild Woody's, today, on 31st Street in KC. It is a grocery store.
