My favorite was a Volkswagen Van with manual transmission. It was used by the crime lab, nowadays called CSI. This vehicle was even in a car chase, SUCCESSFULLY catching its prey!

Is that the Young Anthonie doing his best Adam 12 impression?

I have seen the Independence Police a couple times over the years on COPS. Usually, it was in connection with the KC Police Department or in one case with the Jackson County Sheriff.

I dont watch the program as much anymore, though.

Has anyone seen an episode in which any one sequence in the program was with the Independence police?
I don't recall any where the Cops crew was riding with Independence, but I have been a very intermittent viewer and could have missed it.

I did my Adam-12 impressions during my dispatching years, not my lab time!

"All units in the vicinity of 1-Adam-12, a two-eleven in progress at the market, 459 Figueroa, 1-Adam-12 handle code three."

In the early 1970s the newest thing was this fancy light bar. On the backside of the white box were directional arrows (left and right) that could be used for directing traffic around an accident. Only the traffic unit cars had these. The white box also contained a motorized scissor jack that could raise the light bar several feet for increased visibility. They proved to be rather prone to mechanical issues, and created a lot of drag. They were only used a couple of years.

How fast could those cars go and was there a policy within the dept. limiting the maximum speed allowable?

I'm not sure of the top speed the vehicles could hit. The only policy was that you couldn't go faster than that!

I don't recall that officer ever giving out tickets on Norfleet. Perhaps it was one of these guys...

The one with the cruiser has to be on Winner Road. The one with the motorcycle appears to be on 23rd Street?

Right on the first, and I am unsure on the second.
