Looks like more entry/exits (2 off Noland, still there judging by Streetview Google) and one connecting Liberty to the north. Also there looks to be a land bridge built to connect the main parcels (probably to house a picnic area). Google now shows that small portion of the lake (far NE part) to no longer exist. Probably was just filled in when the lake closed for business.

In fact, another look reveals the lake is alot smaller and lots of it was filled in apparently.

Or just dried up! OR, maybe cut off from it main water supply?

I pretty sure it hasn't been a gas station, but it is car related.

Will wonders never cease? I get this one "AutoNation" at 1525 E US 24, at N. Kiger. How did WCHS ever miss this?

In 1960 that was a private residence, home of one Clinton Mareck. The boarded up building next door would have been the Country Side Super Market, which now should ring a bell with WCHS.

Yes, on both counts! No more "elefino"! At least, not on this one anyway! It didn't do a bit of good to blank out the sign!

Something a little strange here.

The exact same building [complete with broken glass and curled siding next to the large windows and light stanchion at the peak of the roof] is at 15702 E Truman on the corner near Fransden and Truman, but it is set back from the sidewalk a number of feet.

Yeah that does seem strange. Doesn't like like any road construction affected its placement and I can't imagine a building like that being physically moved back off the sidewalk. The setback is even more noticeable if you do a Streetview from Fransden.

The numbering on Truman Rd was different in 1960. The only business that is east of Fransden on Truman Rd is George Larm Service Station at 1502 E. TR. That double garaged structure sure looks like it might have housed a station. The City Limit then was at what was N. Kiger @ 16501 Stewart Sand and Material Co.

That's one big house next door to the east and a heckuva front lawn to maintain.
