On the road in League City, TX (near Houston), I stopped in at Kelley's Country Cookin' for some beef tips with noodles in a savory brown gravy. They were sided with green beans, mashed potatoes (brown gravy), buttered corn, and iced tea.

Poached hake filets - vegetable stock, garlic, scallions, lemon zest and juice, cilantro, salt and pepper, carrots poached in the same liquid, some kind of "Elote" salad kit from Trader Joe's, glass of chardonnay

Comfort food for me tonight! A chicken thigh (I removed SOME of the skin ... have you noticed that butchers are tucking in a lot of extra skin to those chicken thighs on sale?!) with Tone's rosemary-garlic seasoning plus fresh corn on the cob ...

It was very simple and very good. Great combination!

Sauteed chicken breast in mushroom tomato sauce. Husband made dinner but I made the tomato sauce yesterday from garden grown cherry tomatoes. They added a lot a sweetness. Green beans for the green veg.
