3 lb. skinless chicken
2 garlic cloves, minced
1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. water, divided
1/3 c. unsweetened apple juice
2 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. ketchup 2 tsp. sesame seed
1 tbsp. dark brown sugar, firmly packed
2 tbsp. sliced scallion
Dash ground red pepper
1 tsp. cornstarch
2 tsp. sesame seed
Cyn is that the sesame oil?
What did you serve with it?
No. Sorry. Guess I should have been clearer..the sesame seeds, which I roasted first, are just sprinkled over the dish just before serving..I just added some sesame seed oil to the sauce for added flavor. It isn't in the ingredients list. I love the flavor of sesame seed oil! I served it with some white Jasmine rice and mixed veggies.

Mmmmmmmm, me too. Sesame oil is lovely, one of my favorite "secret" ingredients.
Soy sauce, a dash of sesame oil, and a little red pepper sauce makes a top-notch dipper for potstickers or dumplings! Now if I were Amber, I'd be making my own dumplings, I'm sure. Mine usually come from a frozen bag from the chinese market.
Everybody be sure to buy the pure sesame oil, not the one that has an oil like canola as the first ingredient.. and a little goes a long way, kinda like the wasabi! (in a very different way though)

And seseme oil is a flavoring added at the end.....it is not a cooking oil.
Good advise by both of you. I did cook the sesame oil with the sauce but it isn't for very long and as Debsi said..get the real sesame oil. It is much darker in color too. The other oil does not taste very good at all!!
Tonight DH is making Orange Roughy! Yes!! Not sure what we will be having with it yet but I will let y'all know later!
Orange Roughy has become one of my favorite meals. So mild and non fishy. For tonight we are having green beans seasoned with cubes of potato, stir fried yellow squash with bacon and onions, and fried chicken from the supermarket deli. A box of chicken will make 3 meals for us. Fried tonight, chicken & yellow rice one night, and chicken tacos one night. So from now until Monday is pretty well covered for dinner. With cool and almost cold weather supposed to arrive Sunday night most likely we will be having a big pot of beef stew come Monday but that is just a rumor at the moment. Those of you dealing with bad weather please stay warm and safe. We are running AC again today

Oops, wish I had seen this before I went to the store. Argh, bought the kind with canola oil in it. Is it integral to the dish or can I leave it out?
ETA I was planning on trying this tonight but now it appears I also forgot the apple juice while I was at the store. I am losing it today.
