These case numbers are the lowest they have been - only 18 state wide. But the past 2 days our hospitalized number is going up. Wonder if it has anything to do with Memorial Day visitors to the area?
I'm not sure if it's necessarily due to Memorial Day visitors, but the possibility that locals have become less cautious. It would be interesting to know where the majority of our visitors are from. For instance, Maryland has a higher percentage of population (over 70%) vaccinated than Delaware does. Depending on where our visitors come from (and if they're vaccinated), they may not pose any more risk than our own residents. I

I agree with ieee488 who said this isn't over yet. However, I've read several articles that quoted doctors in various areas of the country that said the majority of people hospitalized for Covid are unvaccinated.

I wish they would publicize this fact more.

I guess some people feel lucky and are willing to roll the dice.

What is scary about the variant that started in India is that so many of their "young" people died.
India is a young country with more than 65% under the age of 35!

Here's a recent article that has information on the Indian variant aka Delta. I thought I'd seen Dr. Fauci quoted as saying 6% of the "sequenced coronavirus cases in the US" - though I admit I'm not sure what sequenced means and will be looking that up - and that quote is contained in this article.
